Like most architects, I too have furniture designs of my own. Most are in sketches. However, some, I model and then render. In my designs I usually use Rhinoceros 3D and Blender 3D. Rhinoceros, a NURB based software, comes to me very natural. That might have to do with my background in architecture. On the other hand, Blender 3D is the software that I usually resort to for my artwork and smaller renders.

This furniture design is special to me because I’ve spent so much time trying to find out how to create the double layered translucent Venetian glass I had in mind. The material I imagined resembled my grandmother’s ashtray made out of orange / brown Murano glass. That material turned out to be very difficult to emulate in rendering software. Although I’m very proficient in Rhinoceros 3D, I’m still working on imroving my talents in Blender3D.
